14 Things I’ve Learned In 14 Years

Hey guys, welcome back. So today is my birthday! Yay!! I’m fourteen years old today and that is so insane to me. I was talking to Lyss earlier and I was telling her that when I was little I thought that fourteen year olds were like the coolest people ever. And now I’m 14! That’s so weird.

Anyway, to celebrate I’ve come up with 14 things I’ve learned in the last 14 years.

1. You’ll meet friends in the strangest places.

If you told 10 year old me that I would have a blog by the time I was twelve, with 166 followers by the age of 14, AND I would’ve made friends along the way, I would’ve told you you’d lost it.

2. It’s okay to think you look good

Not that I’m all that confident with my body anyway but I’ve learned that it’s perfectly okay to think you look pretty sometimes.

3. Don’t be too trusting

It’s okay to see the good in people, but if you meet someone and a lot of other people don’t like them, there might be a valid reason why. Don’t completely let your guard down until you really know a person

4. You can’t be perfect

There will be days that you trip and fall flat on your face in front of a whole hallway of people with a 40 pound bag on your back, it’s just going to happen. And when it does you brush yourself off and carry on because you cannot do everything perfectly.

5. Not all friends have to be your best friend

You don’t have to call everyone you meet your best friend. It’s fine to say friend. You’re not going to be able to tell every friend everything and that’s okay

6. Eventually, everything sorts itself out

At times it will feel like you will never EVER be able to make it through the week. But you will. The universe does this funny thing where it makes everything work out okay. You might not always be happy with the end result, but it will be okay

7. Your feelings are valid

This is one that I know but have trouble applying. Just because you’re sad one day, doesn’t mean you don’t care about the people around the world who are suffering.  Sadness is a feeling and everybody has feelings.

8. Your body isn’t against you

Even though at times it seems like your body hates you because you’ve gained weight and all you’ve eaten is salads for a week. Or maybe your mad because your brain blows everything out of proportion, but your body isn’t fighting you.

9. Just because something is gone, doesn’t mean you have to pretend it was never there

Talking about the loss of a loved one is okay. You don’t have to stop just because they’ve passed away. Talking about the memories you have of them, good and bad, is perfectly fine

10. Popularity isn’t everything

It doesn’t matter if everybody in a cafeteria knows your name. 1 small group of friends is probably better anyway.

11. It’s okay to not want to grow up

Some days all you’ll want is to curl up under a blanket and hug your favorite stuffed animal, even if your 13.

12. Don’t be the know it all

Its annoying when someone has an answer for everything, don’t be that person

13. People only push you because they want the best

You’ll be shoved out of your comfort zone at least once by nearly  everyone you meet.  Teachers will push you to get into advanced classes, conselours will push you to face the day, but it’s all in the name of helping you

14. Your parents know best

Listen to them for crying out loud. They don’t make this stuff up and you’ll save yourself a lot of headaches and “I told you so”s if you take their advice

Well, that’s it. Those are some of the many things I have learned in 14 years. I hope you enjoyed

See ya soon!!!
